Digimon, but it took until Digimon World Re:Digitize and Cyber Sleuth for the games to actually be worth playing in my opinion.

I don't know what a Boxing Day is but that's a fun series. Like, I'm not huge on the combat side but the anime that goes along with it is actually hilarious and the writing is pretty good

In frontire they changed the game so u only have controll of 1 vivosaur at a time and have to have a friend in order to have more on ur team at a given time. You always in a car unless ur in a hub world and the charecters are pretty generic. The graphics look abit muddy and dark instead of bright and colorfull. The vivosaurs look a bit more realistic.

Personaly champions dissapointed me because of how easy it was. Remember the pain that was king dynal or the story rex tournament.

Strange Journey and Digimon World: Dawn are favorites. Cyber Sleuth has been a lot of fun, but these flagrant nostalgia goggles are tough to take off.

Does spectrobes count? Specifically the second and third games as I was never a fan of the first game

Persona series is like an adult DQ Monsters. You start with 3 then play 4 since you're used to more light-hearted stuff. After this you play SMT IV on 3ds then either play IV Apocalypse or one of the Digital Demon Dandelion Story or whatever the fucks.

SMTIV might piss you off a bit, but it's still a massive game and really excellent. However, Apocalypse is the fucking bomb and a personal fav, and adds a bit of goofy personality to the franchise that works really well.

There was a great monster raising/catching minigame in my favorite game of all time.

youkai watch 3. best in the series so far

Digimon World: Dusk/Dawn for me. I liked the way the Digimon could basically go through multiple evo branches. I hear Cyber Sleuth is more or less the same, so I'll definitely be picking it up when I get a PS4.

DQMJ is sorta similar with breeding, but it just wasn't quite as fun.

Digimon and Yo-Kai Watch are kinda my kicks right now besides Pokemon. I absolutely love Yokai's anime, the game's good too. Digimon World Dawn and Dusk on the DS were really good, and so were Digimon World 5 and 6.

Yeah, in Japan Dusk/Dawn and Cyber Sleuth are part of the Digimon Story series with a few other games. Very similar gameplay, but handled better in my opinion. My favorite game so far this year.

Their last real game was 8 years ago, and none of the original creators are part of TECMO anymore. The last time they even acknowledged the series existed was a trap in the JP version of Deception IV that looks like Suezo.

I always thought it was weird Zuum was one of the only monsters to have their name changed overseas, especially when its original name (Roadrunner) was already in English.

The only other drastic name changes that weren't the result of Engrish are Chucky > Wracky (to avoid getting sued) and Nendoron > Gaboo.
