The update just adds compatibility for Gen 6 -> Gen 7 and Gen 1 -> Gen 7. It won't remove any compatibility with Gen 5

only 6 per day can be transferred in DPPt but 6 at a time in HGSS. Can only be done on a old DS

Gen 5 has a lame minigame that for 6 at a time

Then buy Pokemon bank and tranfer them up

Pretty sure HA Gothita was a dream-world only pokemon, and can't be found in hidden grottos in B2/W2. Which means that the only way to get one in gen 5 now is to trade a local friend for it.

You don't absolutely need to play 1 before 2, but some plot points/characters are more familiar to you if you do.
