Half isn't most. It's only four out of 7 gens, and two of those three gens had starters lose their signature moves within the same generation.

Except D/P. And BW barely had signature moves, only Tepig had one. Shellder got razor shell and a ton of pokemon got leaf tornado.

None. Their signature moves were all learned by other Pokemon in DP, and then by Pt and HGSS they were widespread.

Gen 3's signature moves were all learned by other Pokemon by the next gen. At least Muddy Water and Leaf Blade are widespread now.

Gen 5's were like Gen 4 where they weren't exactly signature moves in BW. Shellder got Shell Blade. By now, I'm pretty sure the only one that's still a signature move is Emboar's.

Gen 6's aren't signature anymore either. ORAS gave Spiky Shield to the cactusmons, Magical Fire to Mismagius, and Water Shuriken to Accelgor. The only signature move left goes to Greninja with Mat Block (of course).

I would bet money that Spirit Shackle, Sparkling Aria, and Darkness Lariat will be spread around by the second half of Gen 7. I can see a lot of Ghost-types getting Spirit Shackle (Duskull line comes to mind particularly), Sparkling Aria easily makes sense on mons like Milotic, and Darkness Lariat kind of works for the Machop line, Primape, etc.
