Even aside from what the other villain team arcs were, with Galactic being the only other good one, Team Flare arc went above and beyond.

The main cast, the Gym leaders, Steven, Alan, Clemont/Serena, everyone got to do something at some point, let alone the highlight being Bonnie and Zygarde/squishy

Team Galactic was very good too but it was only 3 episodes, and the climax was pretty rushed. Besides seeing all the Gym leaders return in XY was a really good idea that DP should have done too.

Although to be fair Dialga/Palkia had already gotten 3 movies of screentime by that point, so the writers probably didn't want to rehash them again.

It was the best but isn't really saying much when the only one that was "close" to it was the galactic arch and it was VERY underwhelming with only Hunter J being an actual good character. Say what you want about Lysandre but he had a lot of screentime, was very charismatic and actually had some really good dialogue. Team Flare as a whole wasn't extremely good set up and I would have wabted to see them more in the mega evolution specials other than being heavily implied. With more I mean things like the Team Flare girls. They were great in XY&Z though. And confrotations with them like in XY&Z1 and 9 were top notch. Wish we would have gotten one more though between XY&Z10 - 30 but I guess 14 and random cameos here and there was good enough.

Lysandre's speeches in the beginning and ending of every was also a really nice touch.

Not to mention Galactic had a lot of build-up with previous episodes such as the Lake guardian eps, Looker's eps, Cynthia and Cyrus, and the individual Saturn/Mars/Jupiter characters got their own episodes.

Its easy to forget all this because DP went on so long and it all happened inbetween random filler episodes. Whereas Team Flare all appeared at the end of the XY anime.

For god sakes, we've seen what truly underwhelming villain team arcs were....such as Magma/Aqua and Plasma in the show.

Theres no sense of danger at all during the arc. In galactic, theres the feeling you get of the whole world, specifically the sinnoh region, is being involved. We have the people at each lake watching the lake guardians, Professor Rowan monitoring Team Galactic, and the appearance of Hunter J , Gary, Cynthia, and Looker bringing the whole series together. Theres a sense of urgency and danger. With Flare, there is some of that, but it seems too one sided in the fact that they easily defeat Team Flare. At least some people actually died in the galactic arc with hunter j and her crew, along with more in the destruction that dialga and palkia were causing with the destruction of the universe in Cyrus' control. Flare's occurs in a wasteland.
