So how much on average does soft resetting work? Been resetting for a Suicune in HGSS like 100 times now.

It isn't worth it anon.
Not really sure man, I been resetting for two weeks so far. We just gotta get lucky :/
For a shiny? Depends on game, with Gen 6 three days anything else probably much, much longer like a week or so.

In gen IV it may work one in every 8192 times.
It can take literally thousands upon thousands of times.
"Shiny hunters" are literally the most autistic people on earth, even more so than speed runners.
I seriously get fucking bored even just chaining for shinies because that too takes hundreds of encounters. How these people do it for literally weeks or months on end I have no idea.
Prior to the shiny charm, it's not worth it.
You're resetting with an odds of 1/8192, and that will be something you'll be doing for weeks at the fastest unless you get incredibly lucky.
With the shiny charm in ORAS, I had to soft reset damn near a thousand times to find a shiny Reshiram. And 800 for a shiny Virizion. But then I also got lucky with Cobalion at only 65.
So, try to get a complete Pokedex in ORAS and try for Suicune there. It'll still probably take a while, but it most likely won't take as long as HGSS.

this is my first time. I'm only doing it to pass the time while watching streams.

I've done over 20,000 for Latias in SS and I'm not even bored yet. Patience.

Yeah, I wasn't calling you an autist. But you should know that you're completely wasting your time.
You could do this non-stop for a week with no sleep and still get nothing.

Do you never sit back and reflect on the sheer number of times you've resetted a game for a palette swap of a pokemon?
>20,000 times
>mfe
That's obscene even for shiny hunting.
>not just hacking one in
What sense of achievement do you get for resetting a game 5000 times? If anything, I'd feel fucking awful once the initial adrenaline rush passed, realizing I wasted hours of my life resetting for a different colored sprite that I could hack up in seconds.
