May I just add for some naming schemes.
Mallow's names basically translate to the Hawaiian cotton species, so Whimsicott is an option.
Lana is part of Hawaiian for water lily, so the ludicolo line.
Kiawe has turtonator in the anime
The tree sophocles is named after kills/ paralyzes any bird that eats its seeds except for a yellow honey creeper, so oricorio yellow. Plus he has an electrode on his phone and togedemaru in the anime.
That is of course, if the gyms are post game, and some of these options become available.

When I came up with the teams
I chose Pokemon from the Alolan Regiona Pokedex
As for Ilima, he is a graduate of the Trainers' School. I decided to give him the Totem Pokemon, Alolan Raticate or Gumshoos. But why Ditto? Because he's androgynous.
All of Mallow's Pokemon are Food Based. Coconut, Mushroom, and Fruits which go well with her being a Cook!
Lana is a Fisherwoman. And I decided to give her Pokemon that can be caught with the rod.
As for Kiawe, he practices cultural dances. So I gave him Oricorio. He is seen to have an Alolan Marowak in game. And Salandit2 is the Totem Pokemon.
