I have a friend who's not well-versed in Pokemon, and one day he fished out a Phanpy card from the bottom of his car seat.

Triumphantly, he says "Phnappy!" and I'm sitting there totally bewildered that a name could be butchered so poorly. I wish I could say it was intentional.

To this day, I still have to double check to make sure I'm spelling Gyarados right.

And I'm still not entirely sure which pronunciation is official these days.

Could never consistently remember the spelling of Onix and Jynx. Would substitute Y for I and vice versa because I was never sure which was the spelling of the actual word and which was the Pokémon's name, since it's not like I saw either word frequently.
