Let's talk guardian deities based on their types and abilities
Tapu Fini
>immune to all status on the switchin
>everyone is immune to status for five turns
>everyone resists dragon for five turns
fucking busted, rip stall
Tapu Lele
>psychic terrain sounds like a powerful effect
>probably doesn't threaten powerful priority users anyway though, sd talonflame flare blitz, sd pinsir return, huge power azumarill play rough...
>forces m-sciz to uturn out I guess
>psychic moves get 50%(?) boost
need more info, but psychic terrain sounds like a powerful support option for glass cannon sweepers, especially psychic types like alakazam
Tapu Koko
>literally only prevents sleep
>garbage version of misty terrain except:
>electric moves get 50% boost
if it has good offensive stats/moves to leverage the electric boost it could be okay, but as a whole this field effect is fucking trash compared to the first two
Tapu Bulu
>field effect is literally leftovers for everyone on the ground
>grass moves get 50% boost
>earthquake is weaker
boosting grass moves is not so great, might be good for a ground weak team I guess but levitate and flying spam is all the rage anyway, big fat meh imo
>>29644902
>Tapu Koko is trash
>Alolan Raichu gets Surge Surfer
>MFW
>>29644939
>this field effect is trash but tapu koko could be good if its stats leverage the damage boost = tapu koko is trash
r e a d i n g c o m p r e h e n s i o n
>>29644902
>boosting grass moves is not so great
good synergy with wood hammer, though
>>29644967
>240 bp wood hammer
phat
>>29644999
>240 bp wood hammer with Grassium Z
>Fini
Really volatile, seems good against things that rely on status, but makes it way harder for you to stop the other player's set up sweeper or sweepers. I'm curious to see how this goes the most.
>Lele
Might be cool. I wonder if it prevents Pursuit from working if you're switching out.
>Koko
Seems like the easiest to just slap on a team and go wherever with it, since it only really limits you from using sleep moves. Volt Switch sounds pretty nice with that terrain.
>Bulu
Not feeling it. The typing is easy to wall and grass isn't a great attacking type.
>>29644902
>earthquake is weaker
Since Tapu Bulu has hooves, it might learn Highhorse Power which HOPEFULLY doesn't get affected by Grassy Terrain.
>>29644999
270 BP actually
120 * 1.5(STAB) * 1.5(Grass Terrain boost)
Still quite powerful
>>29644902
>Tapu Fini
Might contribute to stall more than break it. Water/Fairy is absurd typing and it really only barely screws itself on blocking scald burns. Toxic damage is not important enough to stall to justify not using a 580 BST Water/Fairy.
>Tapu Lele
If it's a glass cannon or slow enough for Trick Room, it might be a huge special attacking threat on its own.
>Tapu Koko
Might be the worst of the 4, only really has merit as an attacker with a couple of mediocre resists.
>Tapu Bulu
Probably severely underrated, Grassy Terrain is incredibly good and Grass/Fairy typing rounds off a shitton of defensive cores. Team-wide earthquake resistance and healing boost will pad switching to an incredible degree. Probably the second strongest Tapu unless Lele's stat distro is retarded.
>>29645582
Koko shouldn't be discounted - Only one weakness, and its terrain means it is immune to Dark Void and Spore. Plus, its typing makes it immune to Paralysis, and several mons seem built around using Electric Terrain this gen. It's in the same boat as Bulu I think in that it seems unassuming, but could end up being dangerous due to that
>>29645697
*two weaknesses but really poison isn't that big of an issue
>>29645697
Two weaknesses.
Anyways, Koko is definitely strong in Doubles, but in singles it's not going to do as well without Thundurus-tier stat distro. Doubles is a world where sleep immunity and lack of weaknesses are relative strengths, but in singles resistances are the name of the game and sleep immunity is nearly irrelevant due to its typing (can't beat Venusaur).
>>29645697
I think Koko will be cool in that it doesn't limit your team options very much. No Amoongus or Breloom, oh well. You can still run Klefki or Talonflame or whatever. Electric Terrain Volt Switch sounds really powerful too, even if you have to watch for ground types.
>>29645724
I mean, Thundurus can't beat Venusaur either unless it runs Psychic or HP Flying, both of which are niche options. Tapu Koko might get psychic too, or it might just be able to break through with Specs + Electric Terrain boosts.
>>29645912
Thundurus' niche doesn't rely on being immune to sleep. The main Sleep inducers in OU resist electric AND fairy, and have SE STAB. This is my point.
>>29646533
Being immune to sleep isn't Tapu Koko's niche either. The niche comes from what is essentially another STAB boost to its Electric moves, as well as a unique STAB combo.
