It's the one true variable since Atk and spatk, Stab, item bonuses, ability modifiers, weather, type effectiveness and minimal/maximum damage all build up upon the base power of the moves and that's why there is a huge difference between BP 90 and 110.

It is called Base Power just because it is the only variable that remains true outside of Same Type Attack Bonus(STAB).

Well, OP, to get back on track. None of the Techno-Blast drives are worth using.

They certainly aren't "unviable." Just inefficient.

Imagine if you will, a life-orb. It raises the BP of any move by 30%. Now imagine, flame thrower, t-bolt, and ice beam all sitting at 90 BP.

Well 90 x 1.3 = 117. That's the new "effective" BP of those moves.

You sacrifice roughly 3 BP, as well as 10% health, but what you gain is your other three moves also befitting from that 30% boost in damage. You could have 1 good hitting move with a drive, or 4 good hitting moves with a life orb.

Or you could turn it into one of the best legendary pivot/revenge killer mons in the game with a scarf and u-turn. Can even run a good mixed set if you fuck around with the ev's.

The only metas, cartridge based or otherwise that permit genesect also permit Primal Groudon (which you still lose to), Blaziken (Which you lose to 100% if it's Mega), Landorus (Takes more from Ice Beam), Ho-Oh (still beats you and then switches out to recover whatever HP it lost), etc.

It's not the best anything, don't use it

To add on, ass far as the Douse Drive would be concerned...well...it'd be a fun little surprise for the fire types the Genesect likes to draw out. Especially since it has no other coverage for fire types. But that's a very niche reason to use it over the other options mentioned. If you're using genesect, you really should have something else on your team that can handle fire.
It's kind of like using Scizzor in OU... or a "non legendary" format. You don't let that thing anywhere near a flame. You let something else handle it.

But they do. In GO there are moves that do more damage but take more time. As such, if you want to do the maximum amount of damage in a a given time period, knowing how much damage is done in a second is useful, so DPS is a useful term.
