I started on 4chan the few months before it came out. I remember the fucking wild ride back then. Then it came out and I got both editions and the collector's guide and I had fun playing it but then I kinda thought it was shitty. I actually put pokemon down for a while (never bought black/white2) then x/y came out and I thought they looked neated and started buying games regularly again.
Its weird because other than here I have never heard anyone in real life (especially for people in college) say that Gen 5 was anything other than shit, and ugly shit at that.

I remember going to the promotion event they had for it at some mall in Arcadia, CA. They had a spin the wheel game for plushies and you got to do it once. I wanted a Tepig and my siter wanted a Snivy. My mother and Grandma came along because they wanted to shop in some of the small stores (Mom for clothes and Grandma for some cooking supplies) Anyways I spun and got a Snivy, my sister got a Tepig, Mom got an Oshawott, and my Grandma got a Tepig also. It was a pretty cool experience and I never seen such a arge turnout for a pokemon game since.

There was one at the mall I used to hang out at but it was late and the mall was closing so I didn't check it out. In hindsight, I regret that. He got hammer arm at level one, so if you gave him a heart scale you had a pretty strong fighting move on him the second he evolved.
He's basically built for trick room stuff anyways.
