I found a bug!
The 5km buddy distance was reduced to 1.25km to have the effect of x4 candy per round. If your buddy is a Lapras, the distance is 1.25km but it still doubles your candy gain. Just confirmed this now with my other friends.
Not working on my previous buddy Snorlax, though.

99% of the spawn points will be along the road and sidewalks of the city blocks. And city blocks are in a grid pattern. It makes it fucking easier to triangulate because you don't have to break off your current path to avoid an obstacle and wrap around and shit. It's a fucking square pattern with straight roads.

It'd probably take more time to triangulate in an open field or forest than a city block.

That was like, back at launch.

The tracker box clears out despawned Pokemon and if the Pokemon is actually within spawn range, it will show up. It just waits like 15 seconds between polls.

Sometimes it fails to pick up tracker updates but in that case, it just wipes the whole box instead of leaving it as-is. It's not actually hard anymore.

I have ones I boosted, and scarecrows depending on the maturity of the gym

Has this game been healthy for you guys?
I've walked a lot more because of it (less without trackers) and it got me doing some coding that I wouldn't have done otherwise
I created a basic version of a local spawn map for my immediate area which essentially is a live updating map showing the active spawns around me.
I also wrote a short script that crops a region from every image in a folder and displays them in a montage

It's almost that since the game is lacking so much I'm inventing my own gameplay for it

nah what I mean by a basic version is that I just mapped all my local known spawns manually using image overlays
I was planning to do it using the google maps API and proper co-ordinates but I gave up once they changed the spawns around and removed the good ones near me
I may go back and do it in the future one day though

I randomly found an Onix the other day when we pulled into a street we usually dont go down to turn around. I had never seen one before, or even heard of them living in my town, so I guess it was pure chance. It was 115 XP and not great IVs, so I released it. Hopefully I'll encounter a strong one with good potential soon (or hatch one) and can use those candies I already got on it.

We only have a few spots where niantic put water spawns in, 7-8 per pier and all that spawns on them is tentacool,psyduck,poliwag and magikarp.

I have a 91% and 97% bite and hydro pump gyarados, but nothing above a dragonaire.

Most of my dratini candies came from the 2 eggs I hatched that didn't turn into feces (no snorlax or lapras hatches for me, have another onix or pinsir lel).
