What would be cool is if ORAS and SM were the set up for a Z game. XY was the start of the mega timeline and set the foundation for the lore. ORAS continued on with it, expanding on it more so, and Sun and Moon will continue to do so with focus on Zygarde.

All 3 of these games lore coming together build a fairly deep timeline for a Z game in Kalos since we are now familar with everything. A Z game that takes everything we've learned from XY/ORAS/SM could be really well done if they expand on all the vague things we saw in XY.

Honestly, I think B2W2 were worse than their predecessors, mainly because Game Freak tried to pass Unova 2.0 as a completely new region with a storyline separate from the previous two games, throughout which you are repeatedly told what you already know.
The expansion of the Pokedex, White TreeHollow/Black Tower, and Join Avenue were all great, but the degree to which the game feels like Gen 5.5 really didn't sit well with me. Also, the fact that you can't complete the national pokedex despite having all four Gen V games really pissed me off.

But I think Sun and Moon are trying to be to XY/ORAS what BW/B2W2 were to DPPt/HGSS, without all the technical limitations to gameplay and issues of transferring pokemon between games, and with all the special features, locations, and lore that made the fans want to play more.

It really baffles me that Ash Greninja's battle bond only gives boosted mega stats and does not provide an elemental change of its normal type moves to water. E.g. Cut used by Ash Greninja in the anime is actually depicted as a water kunai hence water move.

Mega Rayquaza is broken as fuck thanks to its high offensive stats and Delta Stream that basically makes all super effective moves damage it way less than they should.

If Zygarde was actually granted to keep its Perfect forme and Aura Break (not a buffed version) then it wouldn't be broken, and not like Mega Fug. I don't see how Zygarde gonna get 1200 BST, if that is something you assume then I'd understand, though, at the moment the max cap appears to be 780 BST which I honestly don't see Zygarde exceed.

B2W2 just felt unnecessary from a story standpoint. The story could've capped off with BW's ending just fine. Starting from scratch after already completing the previous games felt like all the work you did in BW was for nothing.

As for the Dex, one can't catch every single Pokémon within the Unova region. The have to rely on GTS trading and transfers from the previous generation, the former having a completely unreasonable economy and the latter being an absolute pain to do.

And to explain the connection between the games, Gens 4 and 6 demonstrated the capabilities of the series on their respective hardware, and the next generation took all that and improved it. Gen V added an animated battlefield and sprites, and made battles a lot quicker and more intense. Gen VII, as we see it, is adding far, far more to XY than BW did for DPPt.
