Imo, there's not enough there to justify all that. I use sony mdr's, no amp, and it sounds great. If this is the main reason you're getting phones, I'd go cheaper, probably closed back phones too.

If you ALSO plan on hi fi listening, then yeah, thise are great, and you will need an amp (or dac) anyway. BUT, I'm not sure I would recommend hauling all that around when you're on the go.

Don't you need an amp for the 600s and 650s? I mean you won't be able to turn up the volume and get loud sound on a low powered device like iPhone or 3DS with amp.Correct?

If you get the 598s you don't need an amp fro anything, they are 150 ohms.

I use m50's on my 3ds and it's okay. Honestly the 3ds audio is so compressed it doesn't really matter what kind of headphones you use as long as they're not shittier

Those are 38ohms. They will work fine, 300ohms on the other hand without an amp might not even get loud.

Dunno about 650s but the 599s (and 598) are suuuuuper easy to drive they work fine plugged into anything.

Yeah, IMO 598 are amazing sound and they work with ANYTHING. No amp really needed unless you want to really push them.
