So I'm doing some Dex Nav Shiny Hunting for the first time and I just wanted to find out about how the chain works. There is a chain right?
I'd get information from Pokétubers but practically all except two channels are coma level retarded.

if you don't want information from retards why are you asking /vp/?

Because I have faith in some of you. Is it misplaced?
There is chaining, but I'd have to link you to Reddit for the instructions.

There's no chaining, it's a flat bonus to shiny chances if you find a pokemon via Dexnav.
In ORAS dexnav, the chain will increase level but not chance of shiny. There is a higher chance of shiny using dexnav than normal encounter though. Apparently, the higher your search level, the higher shiny rate becomes.

Indeed.I got my shiny ralts that way

This. took a long time to figure it out so there's plenty of conflicting instructions, but it seems confirmed from the game files that base chances are overall better, chances improve with your overall search level, and very slightly with chaining.
Every time you use the dexnav there's a higher chance of finding a shiny than by finding a Pokemon through normal means, but chaining doesn't raise shiny chance.
Chain only affects the chance of better stats and level of the wild pokemon. Using the dexnav is like using the friend safari, every encounter is 1/512. It isn't affected by the shiny charm.
So you don't need to get a high chain.
