Judging it by it's design, it looks like a fast defensive wall actually, which sounds interesting.

Honestly that exact pose where he raises his arms forward makes him look like a 10/10 design. Its impressive how a shitty pose/artwork of a same thing can make it look bad. However, the scales on the side of his head are over the top. It would look much better if the front scale was a little bit bigger and the scaled on the side of his head were removed completly. I really like the design, particularly the neutral palette, and he definitely gives of that tribal warrior vibe. A lot of people complained about too many "waifumons" or "cutesy" Pokémon this gen. Pokémon like Hakamo-o and Wimpod2 help balance that out.
