Sailor moon orig was almost comprised entirely out of gays and trannies. A couple of the sailors were, that girl that minimoon fell in love with was originally a cyborg modeled after a dead girl, Of course Uranus and Neptune were a lesbian pair, Uranus being agender.

Basically, it was a crazy ass circus and trying to make it less gay must have made translators have meltdowns. It's great.
