Nothing is confirmed. Several of Ash's Pokemon have been distributed to the games before. An extra bonus as a nod to the anime doesn't automatically make it canon, especially when the word of God is that the anime and games take place in separate continuities.

If ash doesn't send his greninja to a generic player character via the mail then the anime technically isn't canon. Just some version of Ash exists in the games.

Ash from Yellow =/= Ash from anime

Probably the Yellow Ash travel all regions likely the Anime counterpart
