Amour and Ash Greninja were overhyped. Made everyone think shit was was gonna change, big-time. But it all ended up relatively the same.

But it was still a good time.

Played it too safe at the start, rushed in XYZ. Extremely poor characters or character interaction, poor battles, Serena's goal sucked, etc.

Alain, Mairin and the Mega Evolution specials were great, though.

Battles were literally the only good thing about it.

They need to just make a bro roadtrip sort of season where Ash and some rivals (Gary, Alain, Paul, etc.) travel together to beat a league. It would have better battles, banter and bromances than any other part of the anime
