I am going to pick the owl because it is the only one with a decent design.

The tiger's head and hands are hard to bear. The official art has an unflattering pose because I guess there is no flattering pose for it. The idle animation looks bad because its arms are stretched and it's swaying side to side like some dance. Its signature move looks like some Tom & Jerry/Scooby-Doo antic.

The sea lion has an awful head as well, and it should have been gender-neutral or been provided with gender differences akin to Pyroar's if they really wanted to go down this route.

Of all the Pokemon I want to use, the one that allows me to use the most of the ones I like the most without overlapping types is Primarina. I like its design overall the most of the starters too.

I find Decidueye the most alluring though and Incineroar has the most character to its animations and background. They're all good choices.

Fuck man I don't know. I love Robinhoot's gimmick and typing but not it's color scheme. Litten is my all time favorite 1st starter but I don't know what to feel about Luchalitten. On one hand it seems like it's got some personality but his design seems a bit too cartoony. And I hate wrestling. But I love its color scheme and the typing is good too.

Heel cat looks pretty silly and its name is fucking awful. It's fun in a campy way but I'm not feeling actually using it.
Dolphin porn has an okay design but it's not my style at all and Water types are generally fucking boring to use.
Robin Hoot is pretty based all the way through and the hoodie makes up for its weird legs. It's name is pretty awkward but it's not as forced as Baracat's. A ghost type starter sounds like it could be really interesting to use. On one hand it might stack my team with Grass since I'm probably going to use the Orchid mantis but I really doubt the game's going to be challenging either way.

- I started with Water starter in gens 2-6, and Grass in gen 1. But I'm not a fan of this gen's Water. It's design is too busy, and too gender-specific.
- Incineroar is Tony the goddamn Tiger. I don't want to imagine my pokemon screaming IT'S GRRRRRRREAT every time I have it attack.

So basically I'm choosing the only one I actually like more than a tiny bit.

Honestly I like the other starters much, much more. Decidueye is probably the strongest starter design ever, and Incineroar is also a fun design with a lot of personality. Primarina's one of my least favorite starters. I'll most likely evolve it for the dex and end up boxing it.

What, are you new to the franchise or something? Gender ratios have always directed the gender a Pokemon is viewed as on its face. We have Tauros and Miltank and Jynx and Machamp and Gothitelle to illustrate this.

It's not even like the starters are 50% to be neutral. If they wanted to do gender differences for each starter, that'd be a different story.

Decidueye. But honestly, I really like all of the starters this gen. However, when rowlet, litten and popplio were first shown, I fell in love with rowlet. So I am sticking with it, for my first playthrough.

I'm surprised someone else thinks this as well. Primarina is the only one out of the three that pulls Anthropomorphic off excellently. Decidueye pulls anthropomorphic off the worst.

Yeah, I haven't said a lot about it, because for some reason I haven't seen anyone else complaining about it, but it's just so unaesthetic. The weird jagged hood ruins the shape of the head, the feathers make it look stupid, and ruin the shape of the wings- they could have easily fixed it by adding sharp flight feathers, so I don't know why they didn't. The legs are weirdly bulky which isn't a problem in itself, but it's supposed to be a bird for one and for second, the rest of it's design is too stocky, but in a round kind of way. So the legs don't fit at all. Bell bottom "pants" would have worked much better.

The saddest part is that the general idea of the design is really thought out and clever, but it just doesn't work with how it was executed. The "drawstring" for example, would have been amazing if it was held between the fore and middle "finger" and in fact, I actually thought it did, which is how an archer would probably hold it, since it's how an archer holds the arrow. But no, it holds it between the "forefinger" and the "thumb" which ruins it, because now it looks like an idiot instead of a casual badass.

I'm not the kind of person who complains about pokemon designs, usually, because eh, what are you going to do? But it seriously looks like a bad fakemon. Who designed these?

tl;dr: decidueye could have been cool, but they fucked up on every level.

I usually never picked water. I always found it the most underwhelming choice. (Mudkip is the only exception)

I'm torn between dead owl and ~~Py~~Inciniroar.

On one hand I've got nothing bad to say about the owl, it's cool looking all around.

However I like Litten and Torracat more than Rowlet and LuchaLitten has grew on me.

In terms of types, I think grass ghost is more interesting and unique.

I don't like seals, clowns or mermaida.
