Just to reiterate, all of the current non-Japan regions (not counting Orre because main games) have been mega tourist destinations with France and Hawaii being Japans top two and Unova being NYC in general. I guess you could also count the contested Russian controlled islands for Sinnoh.
Unless something big goes on in the region, I could see Alola getting a second game unlike Kalos since the terror attacks and news reports really killed the French Romanticism. Then again, second game sales aren't the best.

Likely candidates could be the one part of Japan they haven't used yet, Italy due to lack of knowledge, Dubai, or any other European country that hasn't turned them off.

Less likely due to the news are major Euro countries with constant reminders of migrant problems like Germany, the Nordics, or the UK, SEA although Japan doesn't generally dislike them.

Not likely due to politics or just general contention. China due to tensions, Korea for the same reason, Taiwan despite probably being the only neighbor that doesn't dislike them on a larger level, Russia outside of contested territory, Latin America due to conditions, and anything in the Fertile Crescent area/ Africa.

US again is a I guess tier. Nothing really stopping it. Japan already kinda knows what to expect, so US drama isn't really seen as a surprise. Canada is kinda in the same spot. Brazil maybe due to nature/ population, but the climate seems a bit samey. The Olympics also boosted some opinions.

We're generally popular for Japanese tourists and we have incredible bio-diversity. But the killing issue is, what about our cultural aspects? Africa would be amazing. There's enough diverse biomes, including Mt. Kilimanjaro for ice-types. There's a ton of folklore and historical importance throughout the continent. The flora and fauna is plenty big, varied and inspiring, so no excuse for a small dex of new Pokemon.

I would love to see a Greece or Italy inspired region, get some regional variants based on mythology, like Fire/Flying Rapidash (pegasus) or Ghost/Fighting Dusknoir (cyclops). With the Legendaries emphasizing the Greek Pantheon. Maybe Pokemon Brain & Pokemon Brawn, with the cover Legendaries loosely based on Athena & Ares.
