As a standalone series, unrelated to every other season of the Pokémon anime, XY and XY&Z is the best one we've ever got. If you just jump into XY without any knowledge about Ash's prior adventures and end with XY&Z47, I think it would make for a very good standalone anime that ties up pretty much every lose end within its own contained universe.

If we connect it to the rest of the show, and relate it to the rest of the show, I still think DP did an overall better job.
