GS is pretty much more of RBY with a different MC, so if you liked RBY you'll like that too. The quality drops off a bit during Crystal since she isn't as engaging as Gold.
RS has the best protagonist duo in the series and is my favorite arc for that reason. Ruby and Sapphire both have a ton of depth to them and their development feels really natural. It kind of goes full retard at the very end though with.Ruby's completely unforeshadowed Celebi that he apparently had the entire time.
Emerald has really great fights but the the plot is kind of weak and the MC is fucking garbage. Latias a cute though.
FRLG is alright and entertaining as hell when it goes full crazy towards the end. Lots of fun for Mewtwofags. It's also got suffering depressed Red for a little while if you're into that sort of thing.
DPP is absolutely brotastic and the main trio are great. Funniest arc by far. They're also basically disconnected from all the previous protagonists so it's a nice change of pace.
Compared to the duo from RS and the trio from DPP the BW protagonists feel a little bit weaker to me, but they're not bad. Absolute madman N is fantastic but the rest of the arc was a little bit lacking.
BW2 and XY aren't finished yet but BW2 seems promising and XY seems meh. X is a bitch.'
Ruby and Sapphire continue to be the best MCs in ORAS and get really nice romantic development. Fug establishes his position as the most based Pokemon to ever live. It's a little bit weaker than RS in the other departments but again, it's by no means bad.

I read the FRLG, Emerald, and DP arcs. It's honestly just edgy fanfic for the Shadow the Hedgehog fanbase. It's still more entertaining than the anime, but that's not saying much. Just stick with the game.
