Also while they didn't turn out to be actually good, they all regreted what they had done to the lake trio (except that old guy they added in platinum) so it's not the same thing.

Skull has a cool concept already. To me it would be a shame if they ruined it with such a predictable twist, especially since they actually do bad things (steal pokemon), and that would probably be forgotten if they turn out to be good.
