Preferably as gb/gbc games.

Well people have made custom versions in the past. Why shouldn't anyone have made a "demake" of a later version ?
>>29404411
No. Every project of this vein quickly dies. Ancient Platinum almost got far enough for a beta that lasted up to Floaroma, but they had issues and scrapped it, and Pia Carrot apparently picked it back up but they're starting from scratch (to take advantage of the disassembly) and there's been no word since. Everything else is dead in the water.

Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Seeing this pic makes me feel more excited about them bing real. I would have loved these variations as a kid.
The mother of all demake hacks, Prism is releasing in december.
They are playing the unreleased beta right now on twitch plays pokemon.

Prism isn't a demake, it just uses a lot of Sinnoh music. The regions, Gym Leaders, etc. are all custom if they aren't taken from Kanto or Johto. OP is talking about taking a later-Gen game and porting it to an earlier Gen.
I am hyped for when Prism gets released, though.

Also hyped for Prism. Will it be a .gbc rom or just some .exe ? I'd like to put it on my GBUSB cartridge.
>almost done with Gen 2 music backport
>hurry it up to try to use it to bump /heg/
>thread dies minutes before I finish without me noticing
Fug. Oh well, this counts as a demake in a way, maybe I can get feedback on it here.

The lift music at the start is a separate track from the rest, I didn't think making a separate upload for a ten-second fanfare was worth it so I just tacked it on since it's thematic.

It'll be a ROM.

Yes, I remember this. I was hoping someone has made it real.

A demake is a version of an existing game recreated in an engine that preceded its release. Prism is not a demake.
