Why did it never catch on /vp/? I bet most people here don't

It did, it was just cancelled before they got a second set out. The line did have some QC issues like the spindel being made of clear plastic, thus likely to snap; as multiple of mine have.

Pokemon Trading Figure Game, it was an action style board-like game. There were playable trainer cards with various effects: Switch, Revive, etc. Game mostly revolved around each piece having a movement speed on the board; then when you encountered an enemy Pokemon, you spun the figure.

trainer figures were scrapped but a few made it through. They go for 100-200 each now, shit sucks

I remember there were ones of the player characters, what did they name them? Red/Brendan/Pokémon Trainer?

Also, as for tabletop in general, I think any series translates well into HeroClix, and Pokémon would be a great option for it. Even Yu-gi-oh has HeroClix now.
