Honestly there were so many great moments in these threads that it's hard to decide.

But for me, Korrina's gym battle has to be #1. Everything about the episode build up was perfect and the excitement in the threads was incredible.

It was on par with the the League final, but condensed only to the users from these threads instead of board wide.

I don't know where you've been hearing that, but at the time Ash VS Korrina was a big deal and one of the most exciting battles to watch in these threads.

Remember we didn't know what we know now.

There were a bunch of factors that contributed to the hype:
>Ash in the history of Pokemon had never defeated a Lucario
>Ash was fighting a Lucario AND a Mega for the first time
>We had no idea if he was going to win, draw, or lose to Korrina
>Korrinas arc showed us how powerful Mega Lucario and Korrina were and the massive difference in power compared to Pikachu

The idea of Ash defeating a Mega at the time didn't seem very plausible, ESPECIALLY since the Mega was Mega Lucario.

So back then we hoped for a win but expected a draw at the most where Korrina was going to give Ash a badge similar to Maylene back in Sinnoh. So when Ash went into the battle, got 2 consecutive KO's and then had both his mons taken out by M-Lucario things were looking iffy. But then Pikachu became a hero and had one of if not its most memorable fight in the XY series.

When Pikachu got the win we were fucking ecstatic. Pikachu and Ash managed to get their 3rd badge AND defeat a Lucario and Mega for the first time. It was so exciting and one of my all time favorite moments in these threads.

Ash VS Korrina was basically Ash VS Alan in the finals but with a good outcome.

I said in the post that the hype was much like that of the League Finals but for only our small community in these threads, the excitement was infectious especially because at the time XY had been really unpredictable. We were wondering if after the Gym Battle Korrina would have given him a Mega Ring from the Mega Volt Opening, or if we would start a mega arc afterwards. If he would defeat or draw against her.

There were so many possibilities since the series was still fairly new and everyone was enjoying it immensely.

The fight also proved that Pikachu was reaching Sinnoh tier strength after defeating a Mega and being the first of Ashs Pokemon to defeat one. It was a fun and exciting fight and one of my favorites because of all the memories from that time.

You say everyday, but it really wasn't until people started posting on every other board about the League that people started saying Ash was going to lose.

A vast majority of us saw Ash winning, every single sign pointed towards it. Story cliche's and tropes that helped set up a future win were all over the place, they set everything up and the stars basically aligned for a win at the League. It was a genuine surprise that Ash lost.

You can say "He is destined to lose forever" or "Anyone who thought him winning the Kalos League was possible is an idiot" but if you had been in these threads for multiple years from the very start and watched the progress he and the entire group made, watched him rise to the top after his loss in BW, Ash winning looked clear as day.

People who say XY is BW are low tier bait posts. The reason BW is so despised is how EVERYTHING was garbage in it. The Pokemon, the companions, the league, the gyms, the rivals. EVERYTHING. The only good thing that came out of it was the last episode, "My Dream! Pokemon Master!"

XY in regards to the entire Pokemon series is basically as good as we're realistically ever going to see it until they decide to retire Ash.

As for the second part, despite Goo.dra's shit performance, there couldn't have been a better setup for Greninja to defeat Charizard. Their matchup started with Greninja at full health and powered up by rain and Charizard already weakened by Pikachu. There was no logical reason for Greninja to lose, not even in the battle itself. It would've made much more sense for Charizard to be the one to faint at the end, without changing anything else.

The BW rivals never felt like rivals though.

We had Trip who was completely wasted since Ash defeated him in a fucking 1v1 in the Unova League.

Cameron had the potential to be good, I remember him and Ash getting lost in the forest and humming Mezasai Pokemon Master which I enjoyed. But other then that his bullshit 5V6 battle, his Riolu mid battle evo, were all terrible.

Eevee Trainer was trash, literally the worst League Champion. Had Ash been Hoenn tier in strength it would have been a simple win for him.

Bianca and the fat kid were never really rivals, just kind of there. Bianca was really the only character I like because she had great hips and was cute.

Like the rest of BW the rivals were wasted and never really used to their full potential.
