You lot did this. Every Gen has a gimmick. Gen 5, and 3 to some extent, was a "soft reboot", 130-150 new mons. That was their gimmick and they sold like shit. They see Gen 5 as a mistake. Meanwhile, Gen 6 comes out, and does rather well. A game whose gimmick was new features, and a fair portion of the design budget went to Mega-evolutions for existing Pokémon. Yes, autists, even a huge corporation like GF has a finite amount of resources to produce shit to put in their games. Having done this successfully, we see the pattern repeat. If we count Alolan forms for old Pokémon, and ultra beasts, it equals exactly 100. 100 new designs, if we count lycanroc and wishiwashi as 1. True, only 73 count as proper "new" "Pokemon". And given that various sources seem to indicate that sun and moon will indeed do very well, this pattern will likely continue. The fucking Mimikyu music video is trending for God's sake. And what is the chief complaint from the fucking casuals? Too many new Pokémon. Well, they've found a way to slow that down haven't they? Just put a quarter of the resources for new Pokémon into other shit. So ask yourself, when gen 8 comes out and there are ~75 new Pokémon, are you going to be surprised and butthurt again? Or are you going to expect it, and allow GF to subvert those expectations should they choose to pull their heads out their asses?
