Anyone else planning on trading up their Yellow Pikachu to evolve

Sorry to say I think only Pikachu caught in Alola will evolve into A-Raichu
I could be wrong, though

I thought only Alola born Pokemon evolve with Alola forms.

In breeding for a shiny Exeggcute so I can have a shiny alolan Exeggutor. I sure hope non Alolan pokemon can evolve in to alolan forms although I get why they wouldn't

It just makes sense, though. You're able to transfer Pokemon from RBY so you can get the non-Alolan forms.

Though I'd be surprised if Alolan Raichu couldn't learn Surf, especially since it's not an HM anymore.

I'm kind of hopeful that Pikachu traded from Yellow will unlock the anime hat forms. Probably won't, but it'd make sense to keep it more "special".

So in SM you can ONLY catch the Alolan form of a pokemon? You can't get the normal form unless you trade from a previous game?

I didn't even use Pikachu in the VC version.

You can only get the normal forms by transferring your pokemon from gen 6 or R/B/Y eshop. That's one of the main reasons we got R/B/Y eshop.
