I actually find Z moves pretty uninteresting compared to megas. Z moves are literally just elemental gems but with an over the top animation thrown in. The only interesting ones are the Pokemon specific Z moves.

The thing that made megas interesting is that they got new designs and each one is tailored for the specific Pokemon. Z moves don't balance the game at all.

Water
Grass

So its automatically balanced

Each pokemon has the stat:
HP
ATTK
DEFENSE
SPEED

Speed determines move order
Attack determines strength
Defense determines resistance from damage from attacks

There are only move that damage you with no effects.

How does it sound so far?

Now there are moves that dont damage you but affect your stats, you can get rid of this by switching out. There are also non damaging moves that cause status efffects like:
Paraylsis
Poison
Freeze
Sleep
Burn

and other status effects that can be ward off by switching out.

There is also now a stat that determine if an attack will land or not called Evasion.

Evasion is always at 0 and can only be increased by using a move that increases it.

Move have no PP you can spam them endlessly
They have accuracy that determines how likely they are to land.

You can choose to sacrifice one mon on your team to bring out another, this member receives a sacrifice bonus and an ascended ability based on the sacrifice thing.

So like you if you sacrifice a Pikachu you get the ascended ability, Double Roll which lets you
change the probablity of every effect in your moves to 50/50 pretty cool right? In addition you get a two turn power bonus.

If there are DPPt remakes there will be new Megas. Of course he can't just turn around and say "There are no new Mega's in this game but wait and see what we have for the future" because that entirely defeats the point of keeping everything focused on S/M. It's the equivalent of people saying "Hey why aren't there more Megas in XY we want more" as the game is releasing and them saying "Wait and see what megas will be made in the future!".

This. They cant make sinnoh variants of pre gen 5 mons, and gen 7 mons are new, so that leaves gen 5 and 6 to do something like that. But, it being a gen 4 remake, they wont focus on gen 5 and 6 that much.
Megas dont have these problems, at worst they will make no new megas but new z moves for gen 4 mons.

What are useless mechanics that we don't need ever that GF would still implement and focus exclusively on over megas, Z-moves and regional forms?
