Yeah I hated the battle frontier. I had fun in the battle pike until every team started being status effect centric.

It's nice to be able to fight a variety of actually competent teams at fair levels without having to play with someone else. Of course though, like everything competitive in these games, it only really became accessible with XY unless you're a super autist.

And Battle Facilities pull from pools of pre-made teams, it doesn't make them on the fly. So if you're getting perfectly countered or even checked, your team probably needs work.

I brought in a Char Y to boost Maxie's Camerupt and a Gastrodon and I had the opp's quick claw activate twice in a row on my first playthrough and on my second playthrough I missed killing a Sceptile twice and the other Pokemon KO'd Charizard and Sceptile OHKO'd Gastro.

I've had much better luck in multis with an M-Latios/Aegislash combo though.

I think the artificial difficulty exists because Maison gives out BP like candy.

Shame that Maison doesn't have Factory - that formats enormously fun and Pyramid - the best format.

Battle Maison sucks because it's too tedious in my opinion. There's no need to have 20 battles and then 50 whole battles. Especially because they all start off with matches against pidgeys and other first stage pokemon. There's nothing fun about beating pidgeys it's just tedious and boring doing 20 and then 50 matches of Maison. I think it should just be like 10, all really hard matches and that's it.

I tried to troll the maison with a Wonder Guard Eelektross and air Balloon, thinking "haha try to kill me"

Then on fight 32 I faced a Mold Breaker Pinsir with Guillotine who won over me...

The way it works is that the Maison keeps track of which pokemon you had an easy time with, and decreases their weighting in the team generation.

They don't "scan your team" or anything, they just tend not to reuse stuff you had no trouble with, which means you'll eventually see a lot of repeats of the stuff you do have trouble with.

Tournament style, only three battles, all reasonably challenging, no "20+ battles against shitmons warmup", all against characters you actually care about.
