Some are decent (Magnezone, Gallade, Electivire, Leafeon, Glaceon, Munchlax, Mamoswine, Ambipom, Dusknoir, Roserade)

Some are shit (Lickilicky, Tangrowth, Rhyperior, Magmortar, Happiny, Mime Jr., Magmortar, Bonsly, Mantyke, Probopass, Chingling)

From an aesthetic standpoint, they ugly. But competitvely they were somewhat redeemed.

Rhyperior isn't meant to look pretty nor cute. If you look at certain designs on how they should be viewed as and not through the lens of your limited preference, a lot of designs make sense

I like his construction/demolition theme and how he differentiated himself a bit away from the Nidoking/Nidoqueen family

A bunch of them are good. Magnezone especially. People just don't like them because there were so fucking many. There were at least 20 in a gen with only 107 mons. A bunch of them weren't available until postgame either making them more pointless.

They're not really bad overall, a handful of them just don't do the original Pokemon Justice.

Sometimes I feel that only me, the guy who drew it and the guy who doesn't play Pokémon actually like Rhyperior.

It's a fucking mounted turret bipedal rhinoceros, I honestly can't dislike it, if anything the color pallette change makes it better.

I really like the concept behind Rhyperior but what kills it for me is the head. I don't know exactly why, but it bugs the hell out of me. I want to like Rhyperior a lot because Rhydon's one of my favorites, but I just can't.

They seem to have become less hated over time. I think a lot of the rage towards cross gen evos was just a knee jerk reaction to a few less than stellar designs. Most of the designs are good though.
