That's why the best character designers don't find jobs, companies aren't looking for good character designers. Character designers get sucked into a specific role. If some guy is really good at making elbows, then he will make elbows for the rest of his life. There are people like that in all AAA studios. It's not some dream job where you're just drawing up imaginative characters and getting paid for it.

The idea guy hands you a sheet, you follow his instructions, your design gets rejected, you follow the instructions again, get rejected again.. eventually one will pass inspection from all of your superiors and it will be handed over to the modelers, who will no doubt butcher the design that wasn't even your idea to begin with.

They don't give a shit about dreams. Game Freak and Pokemon is big business. Anyone can draw a good pokemon design. That is not a talent. There are thousands of great fakemon designs because literally anyone can do it.

They aren't gonna pay some kid for a design on their deviant art page. That's just crazy.

The only time they might do something like this is if they were to hold a design contest, something that companies have done before. The winner gets their design into the game. That is just a method to generate hype and PR, it's not about the designs. Just another form of advertisement.

Designing Pokemon takes a lot of work, and with 3D especially in the mix, it's going to take more than sketching a Pokemon, making a sprite with two frames of animation and calling it a day. Look at Gen V. Look what happens when you cut corners with animating. Now, let's get some naive shitter to design a Pokemon and he works on it and submits it the head person in charge of the design team.

All of that has to taken into account. Suddenly, your epic idea is now being retweaked and edited to fit the criteria for what needs to be done in-game and suddenly you're wanting to rip your hair out. That's what designing really is. It's not easy AND you're on a deadline.

And considering how many shitty fakemon there are on the internet, I'm glad GameFreak doesn't even make the attempt to ask the 'fans' for designs. You all complain about rehashes but fakemon 90% of the time are literal rehashes of not only official Pokemon, but other monsters too. Plus, legally they can't do such a thing (Imagine that one faggot who gets butthurt and demands royalties for said monster. Suddenly, a hole in the national dex).

tl;dr stick to rom hacks and let the professionals do the work.
