I actually like it. The boy protagonist is forever trapped in the anime/unfinished version of Alola, where Ash gave him his Greninja, only Pikachu, Rockruff, Pikipek, Yungoos and those shitty dragons exist, and nothing ever happens after a month.

He will eventually finish all the events and send his Greninja and items to the REAL, canon Alola where Chicken-chan is the protagonist, all the people from the demo can move on with their lives and 800+ pokemon exist.

The boy will be forever trapped in limbo, unable to do anything except destroy rocks with Tauros and fight uncatchable pikipeks. His mom will stay inside that building forever. Only Ash-Greninja and the NPCs that appeared in the demo will remember him, but none of them realize that he's trapped in a groundhog day.
