Always been one of my favorites. Probably the reason I got into Pokemon in the first place, really.

The design is fine. It's a bipedal dragon, with it's main defining trait being the tail fire. It's simple, but more importantly an easy to digest design. SM in particular have a lot of ??? designs, so I'm definitely pining more for things a little more grounded.

Pretty basic and simple, no extra decorations, while still looking badass

LuchaLitten should've taken a page out of it, maybe it wouldn't a cluttered mess

I think it's alright I guess. Probably the best of the gen one starters. They're all pretty unimpressive to me though and always were. I didn't really love a Pokemon starter until I saw Totodile.

I never understood why people treat its fanbase like it's the worst. Sure, it has some stupid fans, but that's inevitable considering its popularity. It's fanbase is still the same as the fanbase of, say, Infernape. It's just more noticeable because it's much bigger.

It was my original starter so I will always have a certain appreciation for it. I grabbed that fucker knowing it would make the beginning of the game harder but a fire breathing Dragon was too cool not to get.

I was confused about it not being a Dragon type back in 1997 too though

I like the colours, head and tail but the rest is shit

Theres a clear line from his neck all the way down his tail, It's like a snake that gets really fat in the middle. His arms feel tacked on and are wildly disproportionate to his legs, look they could snap any moment. The wings also don't fit

All he needs to be great is an actual torso, arms that match his legs, less fat, narrower hips and have the wings start on his shoulder blades then fan out to be bigger than they are now

But to me it looks like someone took a kids drawing and remade it professionally

First time I saw him was on that TCG card with Fire Spin 100 power. I was like whoa, charmander evolves?(I didn't even knew pokemon could evolve) I'm talking around 2001 or 2002, I was a kid. And when I saw this dragon in that pose on that tcg card, I instantly fell in love him. And since then he's been my childhood favorite because of the design, he being a dragon, awesome roar, and fire typing.
