I didn't mind the incompatibility all that much. I mean, if that's all it comes down to, then Gen III fared pretty well through its substance and refreshing charm.

I'd say the one thing that really did piss me off about Gen III is how the move Psychic lost much of its impact in how it looked and sounded like in the previous games by being rendered pitifully bland and still being kept that way in every single game ever since.
