Changing dates DOES work for this, and I just confirmed it myself.

Changing the date do November 18 does trigger Lillie's event, with no other consequences whatsoever. What it doesn't work for is the other timed events, requesting you to return in a set number of days, but these also don't get fucked up by you changing the date, since what it actually checks is how much time has passed since you cleared the demo, using the 3DS's internal real time clock.
