If Ninetales gets a speed buff, Ice/Fairy is a pretty good (If somewhat redundant) Offensive combo, and A-Ninetales could be good.

It really all comes down to whether or not the alolamons get stat shuffles and whether those shuffles are for the best.

Alolan Muk has only one weakness(ground), STAB Crunch, might get Sucker Punch, can almost certainly use Toxic Spikes. It might also be able to learn certain claw based moves now.

Dunno if it will be viable in the highest tiers, but it's gonna take a massive step up from regular Muk and it will have it's own niche.

Alolan Raichu seems like it's gonna be useful in doubles.

Depends heavily on stat changes but I think it's safe to say Alolan Muk is objectively better than regular Muk. Poison/Dark is a strong type combo and he'll probably have at least marginally better stats. Doesn't make him competitive necessarily but he will be an upgrade.

Snowslash is who I worry for the most, ice/steel is not very good and the dex makes a point of him being slow.

If Alolan Marowak has decent speed and Thick Club works on it, then it could probably be OU.

Regular muk has a decent stat distrubution so im assuming alolan muk will have almost the same with a dark typing itll be super good if it does (stab sucker punch, knock offs or crunches coming off a hard to kill tank)

Alola forms are only Alola forms in Alola. Take them anywhere else and they revert to their normal forms. Bring the normal forms from any other game to Alola, and they will change.

what? Alolan Forms are variants of the pokemon that have evolved (no not that kind) to live in Alola. Import a ninetales from Kanto, it stays Fire. Breed it in Alola, and MAYBE you'll get an ice nintales, we don't know yet. But for god's sake the player's mom owns a damn meowth and it doesnt magically turn black as soon as it touches alolan soil. They had to breed the black in.

Same works in reverse, presumably.

That's a whopping 10 types it can switch in on. Over half the type chart, it wins. Ghost/Fire is also a rarely resisted type combination.

It's also confirmed it'll evolve from standard Cubone, giving it access to:

>Knock Off
>Iron Head
>Stealth Rock
>Stone Edge
>Belly Drum
>Swords Dance

Being Ghost/Fire means it has a shot at getting things like WoW, Shadow Sneak and Flare Blitz.

So this thing's got at LEAST 95 base speed, access to an already solid, and potentially top tier movepool, and a fucking amazing type both defensively and offensively. If this thing remains a physical attacker, and can still utilize Thick Club (Which, may I remind you, set the current Marowak's measely 80 attack at an Attack rivaling Deoxys-A), A-Maro will likely be an OU powerhouse.

Alolan forms are a cool idea, but jesus christ. They did like, what, 8 lines? All of them being Kanto only. SUCH a criminally under explored feature, holy shit.

At least with Mega's the distribution wasn't limited by only being Kanto and having to do their pre-evos as well. Like, great, 20 Alolan forms, but when half of them are just the pre-evos, that doesn't mean much.
