Jim Davis doesn't give two shits about Garfield, from the beginnning he intended Garfield to be solely a cash cow.

I do think however that Jim's probably a bit bummed that his other series never garnered as much popularity as Garfield, that series being those comics about farm animals I don't even remember the name of it.
