I don't know if Battle Bonds is actually better than Protean, but they could have done FAR worse than giving AshNinja what essentially amounts to a Z-Move that can be fucking spammed.

Eh, Moxie's not nearly as great an ability as people want to think it is. The only Pokemon that uses Moxie by choice is Scrafty, and that's cause he's defensive as fuck.
