I don't really get that logic. XY ad him come really close, and also treated the guy that did won as a co-protagonist of sorts. If anything, that should make it clear that him winning a league isn't going to be some radical step forward. So do you guys think that with all the breaks they've had in Japan recently the West might actually catch up for airdates to a reasonable degree before Sun & Moon? I think being two weeks behind would be a fair wait time, if Cartoon Network did a few double bills that'd be cool. Obviously I appreciate 4Kids caused the problem years ago but here we are about to enter Gen VII with a good few months of Gen VI still to be aired in America, let alone worldwide.

Yeah, but Alan won the league. Virgil won it the last series. Tetsuya won it in AG. All of these were presented as trainers more or less on Ash's level, not as Takuto-tier brick walls.

What would have happened if he HAD on the league? A few episodes were he enters the Champion League, has a 6-on-6 battle with the first Elite Four member, then loses about as bad as he did against Takuto in order to establish again that he's still nowhere near their level despite winning a league? There's nothing in any of that that would have really made a difference in regards to him deciding to go to some other region and start over from scratch there.

Hell, this is why people THOUGHT he might win this time. Not only would such a victory really change anything, we knew he wasn't entering a league next series anyway. If anything, him losing badly in the Champion League could have been a decent way to make him realize how much he still has to learn, which could have set up his decision to enter the school in Alola.

Ash winning a League is probably the biggest event the Pokemon series will ever see.

New games, movies, promotions all garner excitement and hype, but Ash winning a league would blow it all out of the water by miles. Ash winning a league can be something that brings attention to the Pokemon series as a whole for the first time since the Pokemon craze died down long ago.

Promote the series like it's the late 90's again, not just in Japan but worldwide. What if they use Sun and Moon to catch up for a near simultaneous episode release so when a movie comes out they can do theater runs with same time release for movies.

All they would need to do to get the excitement built for the series would be to acknowledge the past and his previous loses, his Pokemon, his companions, have a series dedicated to him using everything he's learned to that point and show that this isn't like every series before it. Make the win an event, a giant, marketed, promotional event. Pokemon is huge and XY showed just how excited the fans got for the 2nd part of the Alan finals.

Make Ashs win a giant event, have the post credits to the episode show him declaring that the elite four/champions league is next with a silhouette of his opponents to gain hype for future releases. Once he defeats the elite four/champions league which is the 2nd gigantic event have the post credits of that show Ash declaring that he hasn't accomplished his goal yet, then have a shot of a figure high up on a snow covered mountain. Boom, there's the hype for the final arc of Ashs journey. All while this is going on introduce an Akari/Boruto type character who will take over the anime once Ashs arc is finally concluded. Include training timeskips to age Ash.

Was the Volcanion movie good? Did it kill Pokemon movies?

Unless they introduce another Pokemon like it, maybe Litten or Rowletts final evolution I don't see how Ash can have any other Pokemon.

In Sinnoh there was a fair selection of Pokemon he could have gotten to fill that role. Infernape, Lucario, Buizel, and he got two great Pokemon out of it. Unova he didn't have a Pokemon of that nature, and well we know how that turned out.

The animators seem to have a easier time drawing bipedal Pokemon during battles because they have more options as two how they can move. And with the way the animation has improved during XY I can see them wanting to continue that trend of high speed battles.

It's impossible to tell until the games release and we know just what the objective of each team, character and NPC's are. We can't even begin to speculate how the anime is going to be compared to the games considering their so different already.

Games have the Right of Passage, the anime as far as we know right now is going to be school adventures.

I'm expecting Sun and Moon really hit its stride either by SM12 or SM26, if we don't have a preview by then of future plot points or arcs I'll be certain that the entire show is likely going to not really have an end game. But since Ashs goal is to graduate, there has to be requirements for that. What those requirements are, we'll likely learn within the first handful of episodes if not the first two.

I understand what you're saying, but unless one of the starters has the design that will make it a Greninja, Charizard, or Lucario type Pokemon that's cool and that all the kids like I don't see them being able to use the Sun and Moon starters like they Infernape or Greninja.

Again, look at Unova. Ashs starters were never able to capitalize on their full strength because the evolution were limited in what they could do animation wise. Serpierior was given to Trip, Emboar was a slower mon and given to Bianca, and Samurott as we saw during Cameron VS the Water Gym Leader could only shine in battle if it was in water. And Ashs "Ace" during BW wasn't a starter, but Krookodile.

Lyranroc though has been marketed as THE cool Pokemon for Sun and Moon with it's two forms.

And if Ash were to get the Dark Evolution we'd potentially have a Charizard/Greninja hybrid where we have Ashs strongest Sun and Moon Pokemon who he has to work with to draw out its inner strength. And since the series doesn't seem to be going full dark I don't see him getting the Sun evolution.

UNLESS, and this was a thought I just had, they go the Hitman Reborn route with Sun and Moon which could be really interesting.

Start the series as comedy, introducing characters, settings, and mechanics, then at the end of the 2nd cour/first season they get into the meat of Sun and Moon. They start getting to the Trials, the Villian arc, the Legendaries, while also keeping a lot of the comedy.

There's still a possibility of it being announced, but with the way the initial backlash to the new series happened we've gotten A LOT of new footage and information about it. They might have had one planned but the negative reception might have caused them to release footage earlier that they planned to use to help calm people about the change.

Like a lot of people had a bad reaction to the announcement, but since then with all the new footage we've seen things have settled down quite a bit and people are actually opening up to the idea that the series could be fun.

They might have killed the pre-special in exchange for trying to not lose viewers who wouldn't give it a shot. But that's all speculation of course.

It's really pathetic TPCi's dub is devolving in their handling of the Movies/Films over time, when 4Kids' dub was the reverse in starting bad and getting better & better over time with them to the point where all their last several Movies had good dubs that left the Japanese music intact, almost no dumb rewrites, and the acting was actually good back then.

At least 4Kids didn't create the problem of the dub having awful voice acting, lousy dialogue, replacing >90% of the Japanese OST, 30 second intros, etc. like TPCi has over the last decade: shitting out episodes fast with no production value is a lot worse than taking actual time to dub them in a way that was actually tolerable.
