I wouldn't be mad if there were 80-100 including Alola forms, because they're, in some cases at least, completely new typings, or at least additional typings, with new move pools, fresh new looks and potentially different/better stats. They're distinct enough that they seem like brand new pokemon to me while still having a bit of nostalgic advantage because they're new versions of old favorites.

XY didn't reveal *everything* post release unless I'm misremembering, so it's entirely possible that we'll have a handful of pokemon in the final game that haven't been officially revealed ahead of time, and I'm okay with that. The games come out next month, and there's no way they're going to reveal everything else before then. We still have final form starters, Alolan Persian and Muk, Pikipek's evolutions, potential evolutions for some existing new pokemon, the (unlikely) potential for cross-gen evos, or just brand new pokemon they didn't feel like hyping up pre-release.

Whichever way it goes, Sun/Moon looks amazing and I'm going to love playing them multiple times over, whether that includes another 30 new pokemon or not.

The second post doesn't really say much though. Anyone with a braincell could've seen that Type: Null was going to drop the mask and the starter leaks were real. Just throwing "80 Pokemon" in there doesn't legitimize shit. If it was the same user it'd mean something, but as is it's just some shitter anon theorycrafting.

I'll admit, I should have evacuated the hype train sooner. But the initial reveals and hype on this board got me really excited. But its not my fault that the final starter stages got leaked 6 MONTHS ahead of release.

Just think of alola forms like cross gen evos.

If you don't count evos/prevos for old pokemon then G/S only introduced 80 new pokemon and D/P only introduced around 70, even less if you don't count legendaries.
