Seriously I could show the trailers featuring Aether to plenty of people who have no interest in Pokémon, and they'd easily peg them as evil, that's how obvious it is.

The fact its so painfully obvious and overdone is exactly why I think its something gamefreak would do, thinking its a good twist.

We know four of them are on the same Island so it'd be weird for other three to have one each. And given that you don't battle every one of them 8 for battling, 8 for quests seemed very likely.
