Right now you still need a flash card, but you can bypass Nintendo's block list and any old flashcard can be used.

And absolutely do it. A9LH is permanent and you can still buy the games you want to support. Take 1-2 hours at most to fully hack, it's absolutely worth it and only has benefits. Brick chances are next to 0.

I do have a flash card. Its an R4 "Revolution for DS" (NDSL/NDS), but I use it only for my DSlite and it can't seem to play DSi games (B2 W2, at least) and DS ROM hacks. Do those only work on a modded 3DS? Or should I update my R4 card to a new, better one?

You'll need to hack your 3DS to run it, but it will work fine. Afaik only Supercard works on unhacked 3DS but shit is not only expensive but a shitty battery hog, not worth it. Just follow Plailect guide and A9LH your system, you won't regret it.

Why are pirates so annoying? Not all of them, but a lot feel like they have to tell you they aren't paying for things, like it makes them special.
