But honestly get a somewhat decent mon and trade up from there. I eventually completed my dex by trading and breeding after i got wonder traded a kagaskhan. There are some pokemon people really are willing to trade their legendaries for which got me a diancie, darkrai, shiny jirachy, and other legendaries you can catch in the game

I always found success trading exclusive pokemon, I got everything i asked for by putting up seedots.

I've been putting up Fennekin and almost completed my Johto dex using newly hatched ones. The first thing I've run into trouble with is Slowking. No one wants anything reasonable for one and no one will bite for a Fennekin

Nah, I got all the starters now. My point was that I shouldn't have to go onto the GTS and practically never get something extremely simple to get. Even putting something up for trade becomes a problem but is sweeter because it'll trade fast.

I put up a Snivy, Bulbasaur, and Torchic and none traded. Luckily, I wonder traded a Wurmple and got a Tepig.
