people bitch about bad evolutions like the Venonat/Caterpie lines and Dragonair->Dragonite all the time, but I feel like I've never seen anyone talk about how stupid Graveler->Golem is
>Golem gains machoke's head from trading
>Machamp gains graveler's extra arms from trading
It's not bad, it's a neat little feature
>>29040827
Still not nearly as stupid as remoraid > octillery.
>>29040827
They fixed it with Geodude's Unovan Form.
>>29040960
Never realized that.
How about Gengar/Alakazam?
>>29041043
Unrelated
>>29040960
This is the dumbest fucking meme. Graveler and Machoke are unrelated you obnoxious moron.

Golem did always confused me. First evolutionary transition that felt like a "downgrade". It also suddenly stopped being a mineral with a face.
>>29041043
Haunter becomes fatter after sucking the life out of Kadabra. That is why Alakazam is ro emaciated and lacks his tail. Notice that Alakazam also has larger hands and a more pointed head than Kadabra, not unlike Haunter's shape.
At least, that is my theory. Could just be unrelated.
>>29041083
Stifle your autism, my man.
>>29041043
Gengar takes Kadabra's tail.
Alakazam takes Haunter's head shape and its mustache levitates as Haunter's hands.
Gengar line always bothered me more than anything. They just all feel distinct enough to be standalones. Ghost/Poison, pure Ghost, and pure Ghost turned Ghost/Dark in Gen 2. And Mega Gengar looks Ghost/Psychic for that matter.
>>29041388
You first, headcanon cuck.
>We will never get a Mega-Golem with four arms
All of the trade evos feel disconnected from their previous form
>>29041567
Conkelldurr,Gigalith,Trevantant, and Gorgeist seem like natural progressions.

That's one thing, but the analysis of Gen 1's Pokemon index list (which shows the order in which the Pokemon were developed) shows some other interesting things.
For one, it suggests that Dragonite wasn't even considered to be in its final evolutionary family at some point. It was created earlier than Dratini and Dragonair, and way before Game Freak thought of three-stage lines (there were two stage lines only for the longest time, then in the late development period they started filling in the holes, like Nidorina and Nidorino between their respective evolutions). One has to wonder if Dragonite had a scrapped pre-evolution before that.
Another thing is that Crobat was probably the first Pokemon of its evo line that was created. Its cry is still in the games and Zubat was conceived as its direct pre-evo at first. Golbat is a relatively late addition. It would explain why Zubat and Crobat have the most similar body shapes.
Then we've got Blastoise which was unrelated to Squirtle and Wartortle at first, and the decision to make it their final form was last-minute, while their original squirrel-turtle evolution was scrapped, but I already wrote about that on /vp/.

Why stop at 4 and not 12? If arms are being handed out get all you can grab.
how did the rough textured boulder become a smooth textured boulder
>>29042117
Usually through erosion, but in this case Machoke was wrastling him for his arms, there was just a lot of friction.
>>29042031
Maybe Dragonite was meant to be a legendary.

>tfw playing BW2

F-Fuck.

He only has two arms to grab with right now, maybe next time around he can grab more
>>29042031
That's actually cool,is there a site I can read all about this?
>>29040827
No surprise there. Genwun has always been thoughtless and arbitrary for the sake of Rule of Cool.
>>29044753
Unfortunately I have never seen one. It's all my speculation based on this list:

Porygon, Kingdra and Slowking, too.
