Fact:

Ash will hit puberty during SM and notice beautiful Lillie, falling for her. They get together and become a happy couple.

Late into the SM anime Serena will have achieved all she set out to in Kalos and flies to Alola to visit Ash, hoping they can finally be together.
However, she runs into them kissing and is shocked, tears running down her face as she runs away. Later that night we see a scene of her taking her own life in the bathtub of a nearby hotel she was staying at.

Pretty tragic really, but interesting how the anime will become more mature and deal with adult themes.
