How do you guys guarantee what you want in a safari? Seems like a crapshoot.

I wanna try my hand at this because Ive gotten a shiny Garbodor and Espurr randomly before.

You can't really guarantee it you get something random out of the 2-3 pokemon that are in the safary. Using a pokemon with synchronize to have a 50% of getting a desired nature also helps. And if you want to have access to the hidden ability make sure the friend safary has 3 pokemon meaning you met that person online and he/she cleared the game. Also the friend safary shiny rate is 1/512 and having a shiny charm doesn't affect the rate.

i don't use shinies in battle so i don't care about ivs but breeding them in is fun. i'm just not upset if they don't have good stats. i always play the game in japanese first to enjoy the characters thoroughly before moving onto the english translation that tends to mess that up so i just trade between my two 3ds systems for foreign mons. sometimes i use wonder trade breedjects if i don't have a specific egg group with good ivs handy.

If you have a game from both X/Y and OR/AS it helps a lot, since together you get a ton of coverage. I also ported forward a bunch of legendaries and mythicals from my HG and Black carts.

I dropped five bucks on the bank for a year because it's super cheap and super convenient. Also, definitely use a living dex tracker of some sort. I prefer "Pokedex Tracker".

i do 1 rubber band around both L and R buttons (in a square around the bottom piece) on my 3ds and 3ds xl and just mash A and then press start with my thumb to reset because you only need to press LR+ either start or select, not both start and select together

Also a sneasel that I didn't have time to fully train/evolve since I hatched it around 10PM on the day i found Crescent Isle, and mirage points reset at midnight, meaning that I couldn't grind the BP needed to get the razor claw i needed or the moves I wanted tutored. I'd attach a picture of the mons, but they're not in my party and I can't leave the Isle.
