Why do people care so much about shinies? To me they're just a curiosity. Chances of finding a shiny of one of my favourite Pokemon are so slim that I don't care at all. To date I've caught a shiny Geodude, a shiny Buizel and seen a shiny Flabebe. Three Pokemon I could not care any less about.

One time I almost shat myself. I was trying to fish a Seadra in Y, when a shiny Dragalge appeared. As I was trying to capture a mon, I had a lvl 90 false swipper Haxorus in the party. So I used it once and I tried catching it 5 times with ultra, but nothing.
So I changed to my waifu Gardevoir to use hypnosis, but it failed and he poisoned me, and my fucking Gardevoir had synchronize, and I was like fuck fuck fuck, but fortunately he's poison, so he was not poisoned.
In the end I caught him.

I just don't get how you can commit yourself to something as time intensive as shiny hunting and

1. Not know about PP issues. That Rayquaza has 3 low PP moves and can easily get PP stalled if you have something with pressure

2. Not be carrying a master ball for emergencies

3. Barring a a master ball, not carrying a heal pulse user for emergencies

4. Not be using a synchronize user to ensure a good nature

Basically if you want to hunt shinies, you should carry a suction cups Octillery both for the fishing boost and as something that can stay in against pokemon with phaze moves, a lv100 smeargle with spore, false swipe, heal pulse and thunder wave, the appropriate kind of synchronize user and if you're looking for ghosts something with foresight.

In my original White playthrough, I had three shiny encounters, being a Yamask, Zebstrika, and a Rufflet. When the Zebstrika came around, I thought it would be fun to use my regular Zebstrika to weaken it so I could replace him with his shiny counterpart. I brought it down to the yellow with two stomps, and a third wouldn't have killed. Crit stomp. Zippy did not want to be replaced, but I released him for doing such a horrible thing to me.
