I believe for the first time the starters will have one evolution - But 1 evolution for each game. Like Rockruff.
I also think we haven't seen their evolutions because this would give it away.
One this we've learned from sun and moon is that they're changing the traditions were used too.
I think the leaks are legit and I think these evolutions are secondary and will come with counter secondary evolutions in the other game.
No 3 tier starters.

Rockruff has ONE evolution. And they have different forms. But it's still one Pokemon. The pokedex already confirms the starters have three distinct Pokemon related to them.

Or because it's too early and they don't show mid evolutions until a month before the game is out...
