Would DP be as good as XY if it had the technical improvements that came with the XY anime?

Personally I love the Sinnoh region more than any other and Kalos is meh since I found the locations forgettable.

I also liked Paul a lot more as a rival who instead of being another random trainer had a philosophical difference with the protagonist which is also explored surprisingly well for an anime aimed at kids.

The way I see it is if DP had the technical improvements that came with XY such as the fluid animation, gorgeous shots and dynamic battle backgrounds instead of the dashed lines that it would put it on an equal playing field with XY.

I think it would actually be better than XY.
DP has a lot more substance to it than XY, most of the rivals and recurring characters were a lot more interesting in comparison. XY just has better animation and plenty of Amour bait as a shallow attempt at a ratings grab but that's about it. And Sinnoh has a lot better music and comfier atmosphere in general than Kalos.

Honestly, I don't see a problem with Ash losing the Ash-Greninja form if, as the summaries make it sound, it's gonna be an heroic sacrifice to protect Kalos. Many people are already complaning about Greninja being sent to Oak in spite of the Bond Phenomenon, so I really think giving the form a proper sendoff that will also remove the problem of Ash not bringing back one of his strongest Pokémon is a good narrative choice. It's a bit of a bummer if Ash-Greninja will turn out to be an Anime original concept and not a preview of stuff from Sun and Moon, but I honestly still liked the concept, the battles it gave us, and the development of Ash during its arc. If the writers want to give the form a proper sendoff, I'm alright with this decision.

I only came when the League started. I was indifferent about Ash winning or not because all i wanted to see was good fight scenes and great animation.
